2nd BROWSE Stakeholders Meeting

14-15 December 2011
Events endorsed by OPERA
On the 14th and 15th of December at the OPERA Research Center offices was organized the second BROWSE Stakeholders Meeting.

The BROWSE project aims to develop with an improved modeling framework for bystanders, residents, operators and workers exposure to plant protection products (PPPs). The research activities involve reviewing, improving and extending the models currently used in the risk assessment of PPPs to evaluate the exposure of operators, workers, residents and bystanders. The project also includes a work package on the implementation of the Directive for the Sustainable Use of Pesticides where training materials and awareness raising materials are developed as well as an approach to support a common framework of indicators. Stakeholders’ consultation aims to involve all relevant stakeholders and end-users and take full account of relevant gender issues in the development of new and improved assessment methods and policy tools addressing exposure, including the development of training materials for pesticide users.

Our activity in the BROWSE project is dedicated directly to the development of training and awareness raising materials to be used in the implementation of the Directive for Sustainable Use of Pesticides. The first aim of the workshop was to establish the priorities and target groups which can be addressed in our project through the development of training and awareness-raising materials. The second objective of the workshop was to develop an expert discussion around the contribution BROWSE could provide for development of Indicators for the same Directive.

Thus in the first day the topic of the workshop was on training and awareness raising materials gathering with the stakeholders all the latest information on current activities and initiatives. The second day the workshop was dedicated to Risk Indicators.
